William DESBARATS Obituary
May 21, 1933 – May 11, 2014
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden death, in a bicycling accident, of our dearly loved husband, father, and grandfather Ned. Avid skier, windsurfer and cyclist, he was active until the moment of his death on the eve of his 81st birthday. Mechanical engineer by profession and inclination, he managed projects around the world, from Northern Quebec to the Middle East. He was dedicated to his family and took great joy in sharing his lifelong passion for RC model airplanes with his 6-year-old grandson. He will be greatly missed by his wife Marguerite; daughters Julie and Marie-Josée (Jackson Ho); grandson Felix Ho; and by his sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. The family will receive condolences at the Ste-Famille Church (115 Rue Principale, Granby) on Monday, May 26, 2014 from 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. and Burial at the Monseigneur Pelletier Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Complexe Funéraire Girardot & Ménard, 470 Dufferin, Granby (450-372-4498, complexe@girardot- menard.com).

When I first came to Les Cours Charlevoix, Ned welcomed me with open arms and a full heart...he was always there for me, from connecting my dead battery to an electric plug in the garage and putting out an out of control fire in my fireplace.... All with a sense of humour and a smile....May you be comforted, Meg, with all the beautiful memories Ned left... He always brought out the best in people, much love

Ned was a marvellous bicycle mentor to me when we first moved to Montreal. He showed me his favourite biking and swimming spots around the neighbourhood we shared for a year or two. Every time I go to his swimming spot I say a little memorial to him ... and will continue to do so until my turn comes...
