SALEM, NH -- William J. Deveau, 55, passed away peacefully, Monday, November 17th, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
William was born in Lowell, MA on July 14th, 1959, the eldest son of the late William and Gail (LaPlante) Deveau. He received his education in the Dracut school system and was a graduate of Dracut High School class of 1977. He then went on to attend the University of Massachusetts Lowell graduating with a Bachelor's degree in 1982 and then received his Master's degree in Taxation from Southern New Hampshire University in 1993.
Bill owned William J. Deveau CO - CPA. During tax season, he especially enjoyed appointments with his clients discussing everything from taxes to sports and life events. He had a witty and great sense of humor with an infectious laugh that will be remembered by all.
Bill had a passion for golf and was a long standing member of the Long Meadow Golf Club in Lowell. He was an avid New England sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox. He was also a very talented musician playing the piano and bass guitar as an original member of The Majestics band. Bill was extremely proud of his son and all of his academic accomplishments while pursuing a military career.
William is survived by his son William J. Deveau III and his wife Jessica Lynn (LeBlanc) of Montana; two brothers, Stephen Deveau and his wife Kathryn of Dracut, and Matthew Deveau also of Dracut; one sister Lisa Cicale and her husband Thomas of Brentwood, NH; sister-in-law Annmarie Deveau of Chelmsford, MA; as well as many loved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and very dear and close friends. He was predeceased by his beloved brother Michael S. Deveau.
DEVEAU -- At William's request, there will not be calling hours. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11AM at St. Marguerite D'Youville Church, Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. Relatives and friends invited. In lieu of flowers, the Deveau family requests that donations be made in his name to the Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center, at 295 Varnum Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854. I only found Bill three ago and he was the best accountant I ever came across not only that he was compassionate and kind.
I have been praying every night for him and just now found out he passed.

To Bill's son and entire family: We were clients of Bill's for many years and always enjoyed our meetings and conversations with him. He was a very personable guy, and I can still hear his laugh even though I haven't spoken with him since February. He gave us plenty of good support and advice over the years, and was a pleasure to work with. Such a "people person". We were so sorry to hear of his illness and then passing. We send our deepest sympathies to all of his family and friends.

Bill was my accountant for many years. He got my finances in order with great efficiency and had such a great sense of humor that I was happy to do my taxes with him. He will be greatly missed.

Believe it or not, I attended the Collinsville Elementary School with Bill! I check the obits every day, and when I saw him, a big smile broke out on my face. I have the funniest memories of "Billy" in Miss Nurney's second grade class. He was always singing and dancing! What a funny, funny kid. So sorry he did not get to live into old age, but, it sounds like he had a great life up until now! God bless you and sorry for your loss.

To the Deveau Family, We are so sorry for your loss. Bill was my accountant for the past 25 years and someone I consider a friend. He always made me laugh even when discussing tax issues which is a true gift. My wife has a small business, and he would constantly laugh at her lack of record keeping skills, which always made a difficult process for us seem much easier to accept. We will miss him.
