William Dyson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 9, 2024.
William Lawrence "Bill" Dyson, 83, passed away on July 4, 2024, at his home in Burleson, TX. He was born on September 22, 1940, in Wichita Falls, TX. At the age of 2, he moved with his family to Ft Worth, where he graduated high school and married his true love, Jean. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force before settling down to raise his family in Ft Worth. When Larry and Kristy were grown and out of the house, Bill and Jean retired to their property in Burleson, where they happily lived the rest of their lives.

Bill was well known in the local custom car culture, bringing home numerous trophies for his customizing talents. All family vacations revolved around street rod events. His enthusiasm for customizing automobiles was not just a hobby but a significant part of who he was, evidenced by the model cars, hot rod magazines and automobile memorabilia that he surrounded himself with.

He is survived by his son, Larry W. Dyson and Jaleeta of Ft Worth; daughter, Kristy Dyson of Burleson; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life, Linda Jean Allen Dyson (Jean), and his parents, William T. Dyson and Margaret Watson Dyson.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 10, 9:00 a.m. at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Crowley Road, Ft Worth, TX 76134. Bill will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

I'm so sorry to learn of Bill's passing. I absolutely loved Bill & Jean and always looked for them at the car shows. The hot rod events just won't be the same without them. I know Bill was heartbroken without Jean, but now they are together again forever...just as they were in life. Their love for one another was a beautiful site to witness. May God rest their souls together.

Here is a picture I took of Bill with my brother Vance on July 3, 2014. Bill was kind enough to punch louvers into the hood of our Dad's 1946 Ford for Vance. We think of Bill & Jean often!

I will miss Bill so much. We made each other laugh, usually over a derogatory comment about something or someone, (all in good fun; don't judge!) We shared a dry sense of humor and that was our bond. When saying our goodbyes at the end of a visit, I would say, "Glad you got to see me". He liked to try to say it first and tell me he beat me to it. I love you, Bill and I will miss you always.
