William Edward “Eddie” Brogdon, 73, of Nichols, entered into eternity during the late evening of Wednesday, October 12, 2022, with his loving family by his side at the Embrace Hospice House of Myrtle Beach after a steady decline in health.
He was the son of the late Leon and Eva Hulon Brogdon of Floydale. He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Creacy Elliott Brogdon, and two daughters: Mary Rachelle Rhodes (David) of Nichols and Jill Brogdon Marshall (Todd) of Conway. Eddie was the proud grandpa of two granddaughters, Lexis and Lindsay Rhodes and a grandson, Alex Marshall. He was predeceased by one sister, Deborah Dorn. He is survived by three sisters: Pat Shelley (Doug) of Randlemen, NC, Judy Henry (Robert) of Cheraw, and Wanda Lisa Lee (Steve) Alexandria, VA. Eddie has one brother, Michael Brogdon (Barbara Gail) of Nichols.
Eddie was a United States Air Force veteran who worked on the flight line as a jet mechanic of fighter jets headed for Vietnam. He served faithfully and attained the rank of sergeant.
A retired truck driver, he was a life-long member of OOIDA (Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association). After working for several trucking companies, Eddie found true happiness owning his own Peterbilt rig leased on to EPES Transport Systems of Greensboro, NC and meeting a special trucker friend, Lindsey Jacobs of Lumberton. He attended Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.
A funeral service for Mr. Brogdon will be held Sunday afternoon, October 16, at 4:00 PM in the Chapel at Cox-Collins Funeral Home in Mullins, with the Rev. Dr. Billy Carroll and the Rev. Ray Martin officiating.
The family will visit with friends and family one hour prior to the service, 3:00 until 4:00 PM there at the funeral home.
Burial will be at a later date at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Nichols.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, c/o Louise Hardee, 610 Gapway Street, Mullins, SC 29574, Agape Hospice, 2320 Hwy. 378, Conway, SC 29527 or to Embrace Hospice, 175 Village Center Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.

My thought’s and prayers for all the family. My first thought of Eddie is how quite he would always be around crowds, but one on one and he would talk and talk . He always stood for what he believed in. Eddie you will be truly missed , but will live on in our hearts and memories.
