Mr. Elliott was my SS 8 teacher at Hillside Middle School in the early 1990s. At first I was a tad intimidated by the man, as he was a strict teacher with expectations. However, I later warmed up to him and quite enjoyed his class. His love of film often came up when he would introduce a movie and regale us with all these tidbits about the actors. Take care Mr. Elliott.

This man taught generations of kids to love the theatre, and what's more - he was a stickler for discipline and taught my friends and I (his students in the 80's at Hillside Secondary) how to show up on time and how to give a damn about the end result of things. I can personally think of several people, who, inspired by his example and love of performing arts, went on to have careers in music, theatre, film, TV, radio... And there are many more who simply learned from him to have a zest for life and to work as a team to accomplish a goal. What a great teacher. Truly, he stands out in my mind. I send my hearfelt condolences to his family.

Mr. Elliott was my drama teacher at Hillside Secondary in the early 1980s, and I worked for him as an admin assistant one summer, too. We talked musical theater a lot that summer and he'd sing bits of songs as a sort of 'name that show' quiz for me. He was so passionate about the theatre, full of Broadway trivia and great stories, and an all-round wonderful man. I'm so sad to hear that he's gone, and I send my heartfelt condolences to his family. He was far too young to go...

I was saddened to hear of Bill's passing and wish to send his family my sincere condolences . I met Bill when he was producing a play that I was cast in. He was always supportive of all the actors and was sure to find a way to make you smile. His encouragement helped to make me a better actor....

Mr. Elliott was one of my teachers back in the early 1960's. I think he had just begun his teaching career at that time at Hillside Jr. High and was a favourite of the students. I have fond memories of him, and he was one of the reasons why I became a teacher back in 1972. During my 33 year career as a high school teacher and later vice principal and principal, I always used Bill Elliott as the kind of educator I wanted to be.
My Mom (now 94) told me today that she remembers sewing costumes for some of the plays Bill used to put on.
My sincere condolences to Bill's family and close friends.
