Dr. William B. Fackler Jr.

FACKLER, Jr., Dr. William B. Dr. William B. Fackler, Jr. passed away Friday morning April 6th. He was born February 18, 1920 in Lizella, Georgia to the late William B. Fackler Sr. and Lillian Yates Fackler. He attended Lanier High School in Macon, Georgia and then matriculated at Emory University in Atlanta where he received both his undergraduate degree (graduating Phi Beta Kappa) and his medical degree (graduating Alpha Omega Alpha). After serving in the U.S. Army in World War II, he moved his family to LaGrange in 1950 and joined the Clark Holder Clinic, where he practiced medicine for 45 years. In addition to faithfully serving his patients, Dr. Fackler loved his family, The First United Methodist Church, The LaGrange Library and the Boy Scouts as well as many cherished friends in the LaGrange community. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Laura Turner Fackler and his sister Jane Greene. Survivors include his loving wife of 74 years, Marjorie Turner Fackler; sons, Ron Fackler, Whit Fackler (Jan), Russ Fackler and daughter, Jane Whitmer (David); grandchildren, Keith Fackler, Katie Ennis (Justin), Patrick Fackler (Lauren), Whit Fackler Jr., Rebecca Clarkson (Tommy) and David Whitmer; great grandchildren, Emily Fackler, Will Fackler, Maddie Fackler, Greer Ennis, Lydia Ennis and Drury Clarkson. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, April 10th at LaGrange First United Methodist Church at 1:30 pm with Dr. Brian Germano, Dr. Hal Brady and Dr. David Jones officiating. Following the service the family will be available for sharing memories in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Laura Turner Fackler Scholarship fund at LaGrange College, the Boy Scouts of America or the LaGrange Library.
