William D. Fawcett Sr. Harrison City William D. Fawcett, Sr., 80, of Harrison City, passed away peacefully at his residence Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, surrounded by his loving and caring family and is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born Aug. 16, 1932, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Hugh S. and Janette (Woodburn) Fawcett, and was also preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Jane Williams; and a niece, Nancy Fawcett Deslam. A faithful Christian, he was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, White Oak. Bill graduated from North Huntingdon High School and was a lineman on the 1948 North Huntingdon football Westmoreland County championship team then attended Kiski Preparatory School and the University of Pittsburgh. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Prior to his retirement he was the president and CEO of Lee Thompson Fawcett, Co. / Bell-View Brand Food Products of Penn and remained as chairman of the board until his death. As an active member in the community, Bill served on the board of directors of Irwin Bank Trust Co. from 1983 to 2002. He was also president of the Pigs Ear Hunting and Fishing Club. Donning his cowboy hat, boots and bolo tie wherever he went, Bill was a cowboy at heart. His family and friends always thought of him as a "Big John Wayne", and he spent many enjoyable hours watching his westerns films. Living out his dream of being a true cowboy, bill drove cattle twice a year on Dodo's Ranch in Colorado. As an avid outdoorsman he also enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp in Troutville with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a great story teller. Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Marilyn (Daugherty) Fawcett. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, William (Linda) Fawcett Jr., of North Huntingdon, Hugh (Katie) Fawcett, of Greensburg, Steven (Suzanne) Fawcett, of Harrison City, Lisa (William) Haines, of North Huntingdon and Robert (Nancy) Fawcett, of Harrison City; 19 grandchildren, William (Deborah) Fawcett, Jesse (Danielle) Fawcett, Timothy (Abigail) Fawcett, Patrick Fawcett, Rachel Fawcett, Steven Fawcett, Stefanie (Daniel) Weyandt, Christopher (Emily) Fawcett, Jaclyn Fawcett, Alyson Fawcett, Michael (fiancee, Lindsay) Fleming, Robert (Natalie) Fleming, Daniel Fleming, Katy Fleming, William Haines, Jonathan Haines, Elizabeth Haines, Hunter Haines and Matthew Fawcett; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Fawcett, Vivian Fawcett and Evyn Fawcett; brother-in-law, Robert Williams, of State College; brother, Robert (Betty) Fawcett, of Irwin; and special caregiver, Sarah Albrecht, for whom Bill was blessed with many days of kindness and care. Bill is also survived by Cheryl (Earl) Kiser, of North Irwin; several nieces and nephews; and many caring friends who remained faithful to him through 12 years after surviving two strokes. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the many caregivers Bill had over the years, especially dear friends, Rusty Collie and Bill Gilchrist, as well as the visiting nurses of Medi Home Hospice, Irwin. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m Monday at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, 724-863-1200. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Evangelical Free Church, 4001 University Dr., Penn State Campus, McKeesport.
