William FRIESEN Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from May 3 to May 4, 2012.
FRIESEN, William S.
February 26, 1910 – April 30, 2012
Quietly in the early evening hours of April 30, 2012 our Dad, formerly of Waldheim, SK at the age of 102 years entered into the presence of his personal Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Dad was born to Katharina (Siemens) and Johann B. Friesen at their farm in Blumenheim, SK near Osler. Dad wasn't privileged with a lot of education, but was taught to be a true gentleman. Dad along with his siblings worked very hard on the family farm. They were kept busy tending large gardens, fruit orchards and livestock. Dad married our mom (Mary Warkentin) daughter of Margaretha and Heinrich H. Warkentin on September 20, 1936 in Laird, SK. They made their home on a farm near Waldheim. Our mom passed away on December 3, 1969, ending a beautiful earthly relationship. Life was very lonely for Dad as he continued farming. In 1971 Dad was introduced to Elizabeth Neufeld and they eventually married adding six daughters to our family. Later they moved to Saskatoon at which time he accepted a job with Saskatoon Housing Authority. After retirement he did yard maintenance for the Fred Mitchell family for several years. Dad was widowed again June 28, 1989 and moved to Bethany Manor in September 1992, where he resided until May 25, 2011. He enjoyed all aspects of Bethany Manor finding it difficult to leave which was necessitated on May 1, 2011 due to illness. Dad enjoyed over 100 years of health, a true gift from God. Spruce Manor Special Care Home was Dad's residence since May 25, 2011. Dad's comment to Rosalee was "I have no complaints." We will always be grateful for the loving, compassionate care and respect he received from all the staff. Our Dad is lovingly remembered by son, Menno (Anne) Friesen; daughters, Marlene Buhler, Rosalee (Don) Jeschke, and adopted daughter Iola Pryma; grandchildren, Blair Friesen (Lorraine Frenchman), Renee (Jim) Friesen-Moormann, Wade (Connie) Friesen, Todd Friesen, Charmaine (Darian Froese) Buhler, Chad (Kerry) Jeschke, and Bruce Jeschke; great- grandchildren, Antonia Friesen, Morgan Friesen, Danielle Friesen, Samuel Moorman, Joshua Moorman, Kole Friesen, Kaleb Friesen, Heidi Friesen, and twins Emilia and Jack Jeschke; sisters, Helen Wahl, Susan (John) Bueckert; sister-in-law, Susan Friesen and many nieces and nephews. Stepdaughters and their families, Nadine (Wes) Tom, Mary Wiebe, Olga (Peter) Wiebe, Betty (Ben) Goertzen, Edna (Vern) Adrian, Linda (Henry) Ens. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Warkentin, second wife, Elizabeth (Goertzen) (Wieler) Neufeld, son-in-law John Buhler, grandsons Craig and Trent Friesen, step son-in-law Jake Wiebe; siblings and spouses, Katherine (George) Friesen, Elizabeth Friesen, Henry Friesen, Eva Friesen, Aganetha Friesen, Anna Neufeld (first husband, Frank Janzen, second husband Ben Neufeld), Elizabeth (Henry) Janzen, Mary (Dave) Peters, John (first wife Elizabeth Wahl, second wife Eva Peters), Dave (first wife Justina Driedger second wife Margaret Loeppky), and Jake (Tena) Friesen.
