FURFARI WILLIAM HERBERT "BILL"
86, of Venice, FL, and formerly of Morgantown, WV, passed away early Monday morning, April 15, 2013 at Sarasota Hospice House of Sarasota, FL. He was born in Morgantown on March 26, 1927, a son of the late Dominick Furfari and the late Josephine (Catalano) Furfari. Bill was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. He was a 1950 graduate of West Virginia University, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired from the Westinghouse Corporation after a 36 year career in the Hydroelectric and Nuclear Industries with assignments throughout the United States and six foreign countries. Following his retirement, Bill worked as a part-time charter airplane pilot in Florida for 14 years. He was a member of the Quiet Birdsmen, a professional pilot's fraternal organization. Bill is survived by one brother, Dominick "Mickey" Furfari of Morgantown; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ann Furfari Oliver of Wheeling, WV and Louise Caruso and her husband, Michael of Morgantown; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank "Tony" Furfari and Calvin H. Furfari; four sisters, Nellie Furfari Mancini and Francesca, Marguerite, and Rosa Furfari; a nephew, Anthony D. Furfari; brothers-in-law, R. Samuel Oliver and Dante Mancini; and three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Skinner Furfari, Olga Kolutus Furfari, and Eleanor DeBardi Furfari. Family and friends will be received at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, One Guthrie Lane, Morgantown on Friday, April 19 from 9:00 a.m. until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment follows in the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
