William George Obituary

PALESTINE - Services for William George Jr., 86, Palestine, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Linda Herron and Doug Blanton, and Jerry Fontaine officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Park under direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mr. George died Jan. 22, 2007, in a Houston hospital.

He was born March 15, 1920, in Palestine to the late William Sr. and Janie Kojack George. He served in the Army during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge and was a partner in William George Produce Co. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907. He served as police commissioner for four years and on board of directors at East Texas National Bank. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Haddad George, in 1991; brothers, Mitchell George, Johnnie George and Jesse George Sr.; sister, Virginia Smith; and sister-in-law, Bettye George.

Survivors include daughter, Cathy George, Houston; son, David George, Texarkana; brothers, Murphy George, Lufkin, and Frank George Sr., Palestine; and four granddaughters.

Pallbearers are Jesse George Jr., Jeffrey George, Randy George, Bill George, Frank George Jr., Edward Smith, Jason Elfarr, Jason Sayegh, Dr. Ronnie Elkouri, Jerry Fontaine, Moises M. Rameriz, David Lyke and Carlton Brooks.

Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Totah, Johnnie Elfarr, Dr. William Elfarr, William Pillows, Bill Knowles, Jerry Nowlin, Richard Farris and Joe Crutcher.

Family will receive friends 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

If desired, memorials may be made to charity of choice.
