William Gobush Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 22, 2015.
William Joseph Gobush, age 41, of Dartmouth died unexpectedly at Lahey Clinic on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Bill underwent a liver transplant in December 2001 with a live donation from his brother Jeffrey, following a diagnosis of PSC (Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis). He was the beloved son of William Gobush Jr. and Mary L. (Blazevich) Gobush of Dartmouth.

Bill was born on April 16, 1974 in Midland, MI and moved to Dartmouth in September of that year. In his youth, Bill played for DYAA Baseball. He graduated from Dartmouth High School, Class of 1992, where he was a member of the Golf and Basketball Teams, and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from UMass – Dartmouth in 1997. His passion for sports continued on as he tracked sports teams and events, especially the Raiders.

Bill worked initially for American Paper Recycling Corp in Mansfield. In 2001, he joined the finance department of Waste Management in Foxboro, becoming Senior Accountant in 2008. He earned the "Eagle of Excellence" award and was highly respected by his colleagues for his business acumen and professional accomplishments over his fourteen year tenure. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Julie Billiart Church. He exemplified compassion, courage and dedication, and had a reverence for every individual that he met.

In addition to his parents, Bill leaves his brother Jeffrey M. Gobush of New Bedford; four aunts, Mrs. Frank (Shirley) Rawa and Mrs. Edwin (Gladys) Gage both of Salem, NH, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Paskevich of Methuen, and Joan Blazevich of Lawrence; his uncle, Joseph Blazevich and his wife Beth of Old Saybrook, CT; many cousins and close friends.

His Funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 at 9:00 am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in St. Julie Billiart Church, Slocum Rd., Dartmouth followed by burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm. My deepest condolences to the Gobush family. I didn't know Bill long but he was a joy to be around and made every day at WM in Foxboro a bit better. I will always remember his warm infectious smile, his welcoming manner, his razor sharp wit, his love of sports. I know I will miss him forever. How lucky I was to have known him, even for a short time. May God bless your family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

What a great loss to your family and to the family at Waste Management. Bill had the best positive attitude and happy smile. He enjoyed his work, friends, peers and oh yes, his sports. I am glad that I had an opportunity to visit with him in May. Your family will be in my prayers during this difficult time.
