William J. Goggin Obituary

William J. Goggin, 61, of Yakima, WA, born on January 22, 1950, in Hartford, Conn., died in his residence in Yakima on February 18, 2011, along with his beloved wife Pauline E. Goggin, 60, and his mother Elizabeth Goggin, 98.

William (Bill) Goggin was an active member of several car clubs (MG Car Club NW Centre, Yakima Valley Sports Car Club, Rover Club), the rebuilder of many British cars, MGBs, Land Rovers, along with a VW, the last being a 1968 Type III square back for his son Jon. He was a lover of all things British from his cars to his British corgis (Harvey & Sassy) to his award winning mead. He loved hard work, friends, and driving his immaculate cars all over the region (Canada, Northwest) with friends and car club members. A civil engineer by trade, he graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, and earned his professional licensing in engineering in Vermont, Massachusetts, Oregon, Florida and Washington. Shortly after moving to Washington state he started his own engineering and surveying business, Grays' Engineering and Surveying, here in the Yakima area. One of his passions was to improve on his home and community. He could be found plowing neighbors' driveways, designing better neighborhood road systems, and adding or changing his home to be more functional. Over the years he created a draft beer recipe winning first place at the Yakima County Fair for his British mead. He and his wife Pauline were the recipients of a Beagley Award from the MG Car Club NW Center for keeping club pointed in the correct direction.

William leaves behind his only son, Jonathan E. Goggin, several distant relatives, and two canine friends, Harvey & Sassy, and many friends who will sorely miss him.

Donations can be made to the following organizations in memory of the Goggins: Falcon Ridge Beautification Project, c/o Ellen VanDerWall, 100 Pheasant Crest Drive, Yakima, WA 98908.
A Memorial Mass will be ce1ebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5315 Tieton Drive, Yakima on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Keith & Keith Funeral Home are entrusted with the arrangements. For an online guest book and to celebrate the life of William visit www.keithandkeith.com

It's been years, since the horrific, senseless, act that took you, Pauline, and your mom from us.

It still doesn't seem real. I lost touch with you guys. I was trying to reconnect when the news came. I was devastated.

Life didn't turn out like we all thought. I have made contact with Jonathan. If he ever needs my help, just know I will be there for him.

I miss you guys, SO much! We had a lot of great times, especially Pauline and me. You know, I do not have any pictures of me with Pauline. I wonder if any exist?

Anyway, just know a very large part of my heart died with the news. Pauline was my, adopted by friendship, sister and you were my, adopted by friendship, brother. Through the realms - hugs to you, Pauline, and your mom.

My Dear Cousin Bill, You have always remained a very special 1st Cousin You were so proud as we too when you were Godfather to our daughter Lisa at age 15. You and Pauline always were there for her from Baptism, Graduation and her Marriage. The last time we saw you was at our other Daughter Jennifer's wedding in 2003. We shared so many happy family times. I miss you, Pauline and your Mom. You were all such an important, special time of my life. Someday we will meet again. God Bless you~ Love Patti

Bill, The man who loved and knew love of family. The engineer who made buildings and parks and highways and landscapes all wonderful realities. The traveler who always had extraordinary background stories to share. The friend whose bond you could never break. So missed, so loved... Francine, Donald and Nick

Bill, the man who we knew would "take our sister away" when he asked for her hand in marriage. Pauline fell in love with you for your love of life and adventure....Lou and I certainly enjoyed our Honeymoon in the NorthWest with you both in 1999. Now your adventures continue in Heaven....we'll all meet up with you someday....and we look forward to it.
We miss you. RIP

Bill, the brother-in-law who could have been a professional tour guide. Travel with you was always fun. You would study up on our vacation spot and then answer all of our questions when we got there. You loved good food and drink and we enjoyed many a good meal and cocktail with you. We’ll always remember the home brewed beer you made in Grandview.
You were so skilled. Engineer, mechanic, landscaper, carpenter, wallpaper hanger, painter. You would tackle anything.
A good friend to all, we miss you.

Brother-in-law Bill, the quiet type of guy who knew what he liked and enjoyed talking to people who shared his interests, especially vintage Brit cars, driving routes, wine-pairings, draft beers, Margaritas and home improvements. Thanks for sharing your sports car with me in Grandview one night and the guided excursion through the Northwest. We had some good times and I have many fond memories. Oh, how about Vermont and Muckross and New Year's Eve? Memories will sustain me.
