William Michael “Mike” Golden of Holt, Michigan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 78 on Tuesday, January 31st, 2023. He was born on May 30th, 1944, in Mitchell, Indiana. He was a man of integrity who lived his life in a way that would honor his heavenly father.
Mike married Karen Ann Voisin on September 5th, 1964. His exemplary love for Karen grew stronger every day for over 58 years. He valued and cherished his marriage more than anything in the world. She was his strength, his purpose, the love of his life.
Mike’s life was centered around his wife, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; capturing every moment with a picture and making it a priority to attend every event and celebration of each family member no matter the distance. He lived a full life devoted to teaching his children and grandchildren new life lessons and always took the opportunity to fill the room with jokes and stories. His family and friends will dearly miss his smiling, loving, and warm presence.
Mike remained an active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for his entire life, including dedicating his time to the Hands of Mary Rosary Makers, Church Gardening, Finance Council, and Adoration Chapel. Even after losing his sight late in life, he continued to spend long hours packing rosaries to be sent around the world. He never missed a Sunday mass.
Lion Mike joined the Lions Club in 1969 and proudly served his community for 44 years, earning countless awards and achievements. He held many leadership positions including District Governor in 2017-2018 and served as Club President 4 times.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Olivet College and proudly retired from GM after a 38 year career where he was able to travel the world as a purchasing engineer and leader.
Mike will join his parents, William Emery Golden and Winifred Nanette Smith, as well as his siblings, Jeffrey Wayne Golden and Elizabeth Nadine Mills, in Heaven.
Mike was a wonderful husband, father, and papa. He was blessed with a large and loving family. He will be missed by his beloved wife, Karen Voisin; children, Gregg (Kristy) Golden, Aimee (Craig) Hooker, Kristin (Chad) Rogers, Jennifer (Omar) Hernandez and Heather (Steve) Capper; grandchildren, Emma, Octavio Alex (Emily), Brandon, Kenny (Lori), Jeffrey, Zachary, Sarah, Jake, Josh, Danny, Autumn, Christian and Maggie; great grandchildren, Grayson, Jaxson and Ivy Kaye. Also surviving Mike is his brother Keith (Jan) Golden and additional family members: Jon, Josh (Elise), Rachel (Brandon), Blake (Charissa), Michael, Brandt, Klarissa, Lucas, Evelyn, Gracie. Some of his favorite pets: Bambi, Bear, Duke, Hendrix, Moose, Penny, Daisy.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday, February 4, 2023, 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. John Byers as celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, MI. The family will receive relatives and friends, Friday, February 3, 2023, from 6-8 PM at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Holt Chapel where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM. The family will also receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family welcomes flowers and asks that any donations are given directly to the Hands of Mary Rosary Makers at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish (www.ihmlansing.org).

Cousin Mike, how I enjoyed spending time with you. Listening to the stories that you wove of our family history in a way no other relative could. Told with humor, and that wonderful laugh you had. I only wish we could have spent more time together. I know your faith was so very important to you and was never shaken even as you were dealing with difficult issues such as losing your sight. When I first learned of your passing, immediately I thought of the song " I can only Imagine" . You could see again, weeping with the glory and seeing more than what you could even imagine here on earth of how heaven would be. Mike you were a faithful servant to God, family, community and country. I love you so much. Karen I live you so much also. I pray God comforts you and your large family at this difficult time. I'm sure you will all take comfort in knowing that Mike loved you so very much.

Mike was a wonderful person. I was lucky enough to cross paths with him at GM. I was in Finance, and he took time to explain to me how Purchasing worked. He was calm and patient with co-workers, and it was always a pleasure walking over to consult with Mike. It was so good to see Mike at Mass on Sunday mornings. I pray for God's peace in minds and hearts for his family. What an amazing life he had. I'm happy I was able to get to know him.
