William R. Gotts

William R. Gotts, 91, of Lake Township, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2017, at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. Bill was born in Caseville, Michigan, on Aug. 17, 1925, to the late Russell and Nellie (McIllmurray) Gotts. On Sept. 16, 1945, he married the love of his life, Donna J. Mayhew, in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Bill was a member of the Pinnebog United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1945 to February 1947. Bill was a former president on the Board of Directors at the Elkton Co-Op. He enjoyed working on his farm, golfing, RVing and traveling. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Donna Gotts of Caseville; his children, Tonda Ignash and her husband, Jerry of Sanford, Roxy Turner and her husband, Bob of Carsonville, Russell Gotts of Caseville and Debbie Dallas and her husband, John, of Bad Axe; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Clara. A private funeral service for William is planned. Per Bill's wishes, cremation will take place following the service at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City. Memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society.
