Mr. William Boyd Greer, 70, of Valdese, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at College Pines Health and Rehabilitation following a period of declining health. William was born October 20, 1948 in Madison County to the late William Grady Greer and Elizabeth Ramsey Greer. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and retired from Western Youth Correctional Institution as a Correctional Officer. William loved woodworking and was a great handy man. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter Julia Maureen Greer. Survivors include his wife and sweetheart of fifty three years, Julia Browning Greer; daughter, Elizabeth Jo Harris and husband Henry; son, Kevin Boyd Greer and wife Melissa; grandchildren, Lexus Woodard and wife Ruby, Bryson Harris, Makayla Greer, and Makenzie Greer; brother, Larry Greer and wife Becky; and sister, Linda Greer. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 3:00 PM at High Peak Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Purcell officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at High Peak Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care at 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
