ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. _ William "Bill" Vernon Hanson, 73, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008, in Dade City, under the care of Gulfside Regional Hospice.
He was born Dec. 13, 1934, in Oneonta, to Vernon and Marjorie (Secord) Hanson, and came to Zephyrhills seven years ago from West Oneonta.
Mr. Hanson was a veteran of the United States Army. He was an automobile mechanic and of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Hanson, of Zephyrhills; a son, William Hanson, of Spring Hill; two daughters, Margaret Seymour, of New York and Mary Jo Manley, of Florida; two stepdaughters, Sharon Bullock, of New York and Kim Kamlet, of Zephyrhills; a stepson, Lewis Cook, of New York; nine grandchildren; two brothers, John Hanson, of Florida and Peter Hanson, of Arizona; a stepsister, Doreen Berry, of Texas; and two stepbrothers, Alvin Davis, of New Port Richey and John Davis, of New York.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at Whitfield Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Strickland officiating.
William has left us for the arms of our Lord after a long battle with cancer for 24 years. Even though he has left us he will always be in our hearts.
He lived his life with a very positive attitude. He loved to play golf and go walking in the woods to watch the animals.
Marjorie and family thank everyone for all the well wishes and prayers over the last 24 years. They were a great comfort for the family.
