McHENRY - William J. Hartmann II, 15, of McHenry, died Saturday, April 5, 2008.
He was born April 18, 1992, in McHenry, to William and Patricia (DeGolyer) Hartmann.
He was a sophomore at McHenry West High School, where he was a member of the Academic Team and Key Club. He was a creative individual who loved skateboarding, computer games, and being with his family. His affinity for learning and wisdom shone through in his constant curiosity and acute attention to life's details. Always ready with a joke, his humor could disarm the most stressful situation, and with a heart his chest could hardly hold, he offered a hand to anyone who needed it.
He is survived by his parents, William and Patricia; his sisters, Monica (Ryan) Klos, Lauren and Jillian; his grandmother, Linda DeGolyer; his nephew, Hayden; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Margaret Hartmann, Lauren DeGolyer; and his nephew, Ethan Klos.
The visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. Prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at the funeral home, before the funeral Mass is celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2304 W. Church Ave., Johnsburg.
Interment will be private.

William, I miss you so much! Family camping trips are not the same without you. We would always have the best adventures and I wish I cherished those moments more back then as I do now. I wear the ribbon your mom made us, the purple and teal ribbon :) when I miss you most. Love you and miss you cuz!

My Son it's been almost a year and things havn't gotten any better. I still miss you so very much it's been hard with out you . It's hard for me to think of you not being here with us. I wish I could take back that day. I imagine at times your still here with us. I'm waiting to see you, and your smile, but soon realize that it's not so. I did not know William, but my two sons both went to school with him. Our family thinks about him often. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family and friends.

My greatest sympathy to all. I did not know will personally well, but in the few times that I had met him at alliance bible church with his sister monica he was always nice and polite. it hurts my heart for Monica and her family. The Hartmann family,
my prayers and thoughts will always be with you. I would never of thought that something this hard would come into lives of people i knew and when this happend it makes people stronger. I never called Billy by William because the whole time i have known him he was always Billy to me. He opened my eyes in many ways, he taught me how to not care what other people think, the only opinion that mattered was my own. I also taught him that just because people hang out with certain people doesnt mean we are all alike. He was such a goofball and such a talented person. He has a memory with many people and i hope that you can find comfort in knowing he was such a great person and know he will be looking out for you. Mr and Mrs Hartmann,
I am deeply sorry for your loss, Billy left a lasting impressing in so many peoples lives, he's shown how to see a positive out of every negitive and to never judge anyone.
