William Hayes Obituary

William L. Hayes, 78, Wright City, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles.

William was born June 5, 1939, in Broseley, the son of John C. Hayes and wife Letha. He was a member of Cornerstone Apostolic Church, Wentzville, and had a passion for reading his Bible and daily devotion. William also was a member of the UAW. He loved being outdoors, especially fishing. William loved the Fourth of July, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. William will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was the beloved husband of Mary M. Hayes, nee Massey, Wright City. William also is survived by his two sons, Darryl (Debbie) Hayes, Warrenton, and Robert Hayes, Wright City; one daughter, Deonza Hayes, Wright City; three sisters, Shelby Jean Hoskins, Broseley, Shirley Holman, Terrell, Texas, and Doris Webb, Forreston, Texas; and one grandson, Landy Kyle Hayes.

He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Hayes; mother, Letha Hayes; two brothers, Floyd Hayes and Gerald Hayes; and one sister, Betty Mitchell.

Visitation was held Monday, Oct. 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home.

Interment followed at Shepherd Hills Cemetery, Barnhart.

Memorials may be made payable to Cornerstone Apostolic Church, Wentzville, in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385.

The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville.
