William H. Hebert, Sr. "Bill" passed away on Friday, May 26th in Naples, Florida. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born in Newark, NJ, son of William Hector Hebert and Margaret Fuller (Kehoe) Hebert. His childhood years were spent in Norfolk, VA and New Bern, NC. His mother passed when he was 15, after which he moved to Worcester, MA to live with relatives. He remained in Massachusetts for most of his life, graduating from St. John's High School in Shrewsbury, MA. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and later received his commission as a Captain. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Worcester State College. In later years he was appointed by the Governor to the Board of Trustees at Worcester State College and became Chairman of the Board. He started his profession as an educator and subsequently accepted a management position at the Massachusetts Teachers Association where he served as the Executive Director. Always an advocate for education, he earned his PhD from the University of Connecticut. He worked very closely with local, national and international educational associations championing legislature favoring and supporting teachers' interests. He also served on the Board of Directors of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts. After retirement from the Massachusetts Teachers Association, he was selected as the Director of Education for the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.

Bill was a long standing member of the Knights of Columbus as a Fourth Degree Knight, and also a Eucharistic Minister at St. William Catholic Church, which he enjoyed immensely. He was an avid reader, golfer, Red Sox and Bruins season ticket holder and a fervent student of history and politics, but first and foremost a proud officer in the U.S. Marine Corps who always observed the Marine Corps Birthday each year, and stood attentively for the National Anthem. During his retirement years he enjoyed golfing with friends at both Cummaquid Golf Club on Cape Cod and the Vineyards Country Club in Naples.

Bill was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Mary. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Barbara, and his children; William Jr. and his wife Karen of Salem, MA, his daughter, Christine Mantini and her husband, Carlo of Arlington MA and two grandchildren, Maria and James Mantini.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 5th at 10:00 a.m. at St. William Catholic Church, 601 Seagate Drive, Naples. Private interment will be in Sarasota National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or St. William Church, Naples. For online condolences, please visit www.fullernaples.com.
