HROMYK, Dr. William J April 12, 1933 - January 2, 2011 Dr. William Hromyk passed away after a 10 year struggle with a degenerative disease. He died peacefully in his sleep in Vancouver, BC at Fairhaven United Care Home on January 2nd, 2011. Bill was born in Edmonton, AB on April 12, 1933 to Violet Kyshyk and John Andrew Hromyk. He moved with his father to Vancouver in the 1950's and graduated from King George High School. While he was completing his studies he began his involvement with Boy Scouts, which lasted for more than 40 years and took him around the world to several Jamborees which continued to be one of his passions; filling his passport with stamps and collecting Club Med beads and medals. Bill is survived by Diane, Jennifer, Andy and John Hromyk and our extended family; Richard Simpson, Jacquie, Jordan and Tessa Hromyk; Linda Getz, Kai and Chase Hromyk; Jean and Jim Shirley; Bob, Cathy, Cassandra, Kimberly and Madelyn Paterson; Earl and Tania Shirley; Alan, Wendy, Kara and Daniel Shirley; Bohdan, Maria, Ihor, Zhoriana, Michaelo and Bohdan Jr. Hromyk (in Ukraine). The family wishes to thank the staff at Fairhaven Care Home in Vancouver for the exceptional care they provided Dr. Bill in his last months. A service will be held in April, 2011 with a celebration reception to follow. If you are interested in attending or wish to communicate with the family please contact us at [email protected]
