I only met him a few times. When I was a prosecutor we resolved a case together. He was the only defense attorney who ever sent me a thank you note. A true gentleman. My deepest condolences for a great loss.

Today is Paula's birthday and it's a little less than seven months, since you have left the earth, Dad. I miss you more than anything. There was never a better father that a girl could have. A man that truly demonstrated what it was to live a life of honor, family, loyalty and courage. You gave us all the tools to survive, with the exception of one. How do we survive without you here? How do we still have beautiful lives without the man who lit up the room when he walked in? How do we manage when we don't have the King of the One Liners?
I miss you every minute of every day. My only regret is that the entire world did not get the benefit of knowing you, like we did. I will love you forever. As always, I will keep fighting for you out here. I love you, Dad.
Always and forever,
Your Little Girl

Bill was a gentleman and a good friend who was always concerned about the other guy and his family. Always ready with a well shared laugh and love of life he truly will be missed. I and my family will keep him and his family in our prayers.

I met Bill through his brother, Chuck, who was the anchor of our bowling team. Bill would come to watch us bowl, give us grief but always had a good time. Once in a while he would substitute. My condolences to his entire family.

I clerked for Bill when I was a first year law student. Bill taught me how to act professionally and with passion as a lawyer. I was always impressed by how hard he worked for his clients.

My heart is very sad, I will miss the beautiful smile and laughter of my Brother from another Mother. Bill was a bright sunshine whenever he entered my parents home. I will blow kisses to the heavens with his name. Rest In Peace

Bill and I were student body officers at Camelback High our senior year. He used to tease me like crazy and laugh at me and with me when I would react to his remarks. The last time I saw him was at the last reunion. He was so happy and full of fun. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. He was a true gentleman and kind soul. Pam Dyer

The Koger Family meet both Bill Hyder & Mel McDonald in late April of 1973, they were visiting my Mom and Dad, at there house. Talking about our pending Double-Murder Trial Case. This was 47 year's ago. They were not afraid of anything or anyone, strong and brave, which they both still are today. We will miss you Bill, our love stretches to Heaven. Rest In Peace...The Koger Family

Bill was an awesome friend. We loved his infectious laugh. Paula was the love of his life and Bill was Paula's love of her life. What a great father he was to Stacy and Scott. He was so proud of their accomplishments.
Bill will be extremely missed by all. We were so lucky to call Bill a friend. Please take care Paula. We love you.

Bill and I went through Lafayette grade school and Camelback High together and were good friends. As kids we fished in the White Mountains and spent a lot of time on bikes in the Phoenix neighborhood. He was always very friendly, honest and good hearted. He will be missed. The best to his family and may he rest in peace.

My very good friend for 42 years, Bill Hyder (see link, below), a brilliant lawyer, has died from COVID-19. I have played ball with him, camped with him, fished with him, told stories with him, and learned life lessons from him, including him teaching me (and my brother Cole) how to bet on a game of HORSE—but, that is no more. He was my #2 mentor in the law (second only to my dad). He was a St. Mary’s Law School grad (1968) and was instrumental in my enrolling there when I finally decided to go to law school. In fact, I was strongly considering less expensive schools but Bill convinced me that St. Mary’s would fit me well, and he was right. He recommended me to the dean, and there I went! During the summer before my first year he gave me many tips and introduced me to his friends who were then on the law faculty. He then kept tabs on me, calling me (from Phoenix) every other week during my first semester to make sure I was staying on track (...and that was before free long-distance!) Once I became a lawyer, I called Bill probably 4 to 5 times a year for help navigating a legal issue and he never failed me. His legal mind was razor sharp and was one of those lawyers who you just loved to bounce novel ideas off of. My friend was one of the most level-headed people I know. He was quick-witted, long-tempered, exceedingly gregarious, and was a quickdraw with sage advice you could take to the bank. I will miss that he is no longer only a phone call away to solve my problems or to steer me straight. But most of all I will miss his laugh, which always made everything better. My family and I thank you so very much for all you have done for us. I am so, so sorry that we weren’t able to settle the score before you left us. Goodbye my dear friend. Goodbye Bill.

Bill was the first person to welcome me to Pinetop Country Club. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. I loved to sit with Bill and listen to him telling stories about golf, fishing or many other things that came to mind. He had a kind heart and was genuinely liked by everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with Paula and the family. Bill will be missed.
