Guest Book
Mr. William Joe Gladden of Huntsville, AR, formerly of Fayette, passed away May 25, 2020. There will be a graveside service Friday, May 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Gardens with Jimmy Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Joey Day Foundation, P.O. 309, Fayette, AL 35555.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Cecil Gladden and mother, Christine “Minnie” Windham Gladden.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Gladden; son, Joe William Gladden, Jr.; sister, Sarah Gladden Allgood; niece, Alisa Allgood; daughter, Amanda Faith McConnell; grandson, Theo Stephenson.
Mr. Gladden graduated from Fayette County High School in 1960 and later graduated from the University of Alabama in 1973. He loved to travel, watch Alabama football and was an avid golfer. Mr. Gladden was a longtime contribute to St. Judes and the Joey Day Foundation. He was involved with the Lions Club, the Fayette Medical Center Board of Directors, Fayette County Sports Hall of Fame, Beta Gamma Sigma at the University of Alabama, Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Fraternity, American Institute of CPA’s, and The Alabama Society of Public Accountants. Mr. Gladden spent twenty-five years as CPA for General Management Services and nineteen years in Internal Revenue Service, nine years in the U.S. Postal Service, and five years at Edward Jones.
Pallbearers will be Gene Deal, Jim Walker Branyon, Jim Finley, Jimmy Taylor, Drew Stephenson and Macon Gravlee.
