William Lloyd Leasure

Sun City West – William Lloyd "Bill" Leasure passed away peacefully at his home in Sun City West, AZ on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Growing up in a farming community, Dimmit, in the panhandle of West Texas, the decision to chart a course in the Air Force, and eventually in the business world was not taken lightly. We always knew Bill Leasure was a bit of a James Dean character, and he often seemed like a bit of a rebel going home. Tilling the West Texas soil was just what was expected of the kids during that era, but he was determined to do things his way.
Our lives would be very different had he chosen a different path – but Papa would soon be a comfortable bridge between a generation past and all of our futures. Nothing was more important in Papa's life (and Gran's life) than his Grandchildren. No offense to his children, but nothing would ever compare.
Bill Leasure Sr. left behind a wonderful legacy, and he could never be prouder of the next generation of Leasures. We will all miss him dearly.
In a world where long term relationships seem to be no longer in vogue, he was proudest of his 60 year marriage to Mary Ann. Mary Ann preceded Bill in death in Sun City West in 2016. They both enjoyed their many friends and activities in the Sun City West area. Bill, Sr was also preceded in death by their daughter, Mary Leasure, in 2019.
We will always remember Papa taking exception to our mother's exaggerations – often to do with the accomplishments of the grandchildren.
"Oh, Mary Ann", he would often say. We could all be so lucky!
We are grateful for the support of Caroline Leasure and Sean Genzmer for providing their tender care over the last several years of Bill Sr's life. Survivors include his daughter Caroline Leasure of Sun City West, AZ, his son Bill Leasure & his wife, Mary-Beth, of Austin, Texas, their two sons Michael Leasure of Madison, WI & Nicholas Leasure of Austin, TX, Michael's wife, Allison Hyunji and great grand-daughter Julia Leasure, Paul Leasure & his wife, Sue Johnson, of Phoenix, AZ., their daughter Rachel Leasure and great grand-daughter Kaia of Aliso Viejo, CA.
A service, with military honors, for Bill Leasure Sr will take place at a later date when he will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Cave Creek, AZ.
