William Losier Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 3, 2021.
On Mon. Aug. 30, 2021, at the age of 91, Joseph William (Bill) Losier received an offer he could not refuse. It came with the promise of a one-way trip for a reunion with family and friends he had not seen in a very long time. His loved ones here understand his leaving, but nevertheless will miss his bright light, immeasurably. Among them are his loving partner, Diane Ujfalussy-Barton; sister Betty Ann Overend; nephew David Ryan and many other nieces and nephews; step-children Andrea Mauro, Dac Chisholm and Greg Chisholm. Bill has rejoined his beloved parents, Justine (Comeau) Losier, Francois (Frank) Losier and 12 brothers and sisters. Born in Miramichi, NB, Bill came to Ontario as a young man, ultimately managing an Esso station in St. Catharines. He eventually decided to try his hand at real estate which turned out to be a great decision since he became one of the most well-respected real estate appraisers in Ontario. He also taught real estate courses for a number of years at Niagara College. One of Bill's passions was playing competitive croquet at which he became quite accomplished, attending events both nationally and internationally. When his health still allowed, Bill loved to sit with pals at Cat's Caboose in St. Catharines, enjoying a few bottles of his favourite Labatt's 50. Instead of flowers or donations, Bill said to ask you to do an unexpected, unsolicited act of kindness for someone in need, in his name, if you so choose. In keeping with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at Cat's Caboose in the future. Please watch for announcements.

Bill was my uncle and I remember him from when I was little and I visited him and my dad Johnny. I’m sorry for your loss. Denise Losier, Ottawa.

We have wonderful memories with Bill. The hurried trips up the highway to Mohawk Racetrack for post time .The fun we had boating on Lake Ontario. He even taught us how to eat whole lobsters, of which we shared many. We will miss you our dear friend RIP Bill.

Bill was my employer during the 1980s and 1990s at Kernahan & Graves Real Estate. He was also a friend and a mentor, someone who looked out for me, a truly one of a kind character. The influence he had on me was immense, the stories and laughs are innumerable, the memories will always be cherished. His kindness, patience, generosity, and sense of humour, mirth and mischief will always be remembered.

Bill had one of the most sought after qualities - a good reputation. Dealt with Bill many times and was always comfortable that everything was being handled in the the best manner possible and you could rely on everything Bill did or said. One of the good ones.

Greg and family;
My deepest and heartfelt condolences to you all! Bill certainly was very highly respected and his welcoming smile and wonderful sense of humour will be deeply missed! I hope he is having a grand reunion and enjoying a cold ‘50 or 2.
Cheers to you, Bill ❤
