William (Bill) Clayton "Mac" McBride, 73 year old Checotah resident, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at his home. He was born on Friday, February 21, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to William and Mozelle Cook McBride. Mac grew up in Moore where he received his education, graduating from Moore High School in 1954. He went to college in Coffeyville, Kansas where he played football. Mac was drafted into the United States Army where he served during the Korean Conflict. After his Honorable Discharge from the Army he had his first stint hauling bricks. He met, fell in love and married Patsy Cambron in Oklahoma City in 1957. In 1964 he worked for several different outdoor advertising companies in Colorado and California. In 1970 he moved back to Colorado and started Mac Outdoor Advertising. In 1977 he started MJB Trucking in Muskogee and in 1981 moved his business to Checotah where it became Macpac. Mac loved to work, and enjoyed reading John Grisham and many business journals, American History and debating politics. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Moore, where he was baptized at the age of 10. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mac was preceded in death by his Parents, Ex-wife Patsy Cambron McBride and Daughter Deborah Schmidt. He is survived by his loving companion, JoAnn Hayworth of the home; 2 Children, Adell Burge, of Chula Vista, CA, Kevin McBride and his wife Kristi of Checotah; 8 Grandchildren, Stacey Burge, Willie Jones, Matthew Jones, Alex Schmidt, Phillip Schmidt, Margie McBride, Maxwell McBride and Angela Burge; 2 Sisters, Joan Hickman and her husband A.J., Sue Turner and her husband Jack Keith; 3 Brothers, Jim McBride and his wife Frankie, Jerry McBride, and Mike McBride and his wife Margaret; Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and a host of friends. Viewing for Mac will Friday February 5, 2010 from 9AM-8PM. Mac's family will greet friends from 5pm – 7pm Friday evening at Garrett Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 6, 2010 at First Baptist Church, Checotah with Reverend Wayne Beshears, officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will be held 1:00 PM Sunday, February 7, 2010 in the Moore City Cemetery, Moore Oklahoma with Dean Lowell Taylor, Dean Rose, Lowell Dean Taylor, Gary McBride, Carl Shipley and Eddie Berry serving as Casket Bearers. Jim McBride, Jerry McBride and Mike McBride, Keith Devin, Brad McHuir, Willie Jones, Matthew Jones, Alex Schmidt, Phillip Schmidt, and Maxwell McBride will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers.
