He was my teacher, my football coach, and an example that I have remembered fondly often since high school. He was a positive influence. I so much wanted to attend his funeral but had court hearings scheduled.

Coach McKenna taught me the most important lesson in life. You are responsible for your own success and happiness. He showed by example how to live. The four years I had with him on the wrestling team had a great effect on my life. I coached high school because of the influence he had on me. I am a better person because of him.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr.
McKenna's passing, He was a wonderful mentor to me when I was at Brookville, he got me my first job at Lynchburg General and because of him I have had a lifelong love of working in the medical field, I served 24 years in the United States Navy and am currently working at the Army Hospital at Fort Bragg, NC. He believed in me and saw potential that I did not know I had. That is what made him such an inspiration to all of his students, we loved him for his encouraging word and friendly smile. I can honestly say he made a huge difference in my life and I will be forever greatful for him.

Mr. McKenna taught his students by word and living example to treat his fellow man with fairness and respect. What a legacy to leave this world. We should all be better people from his example. He will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have many wonderful memories of Coach Mckenna.
I loved his coaching style and I appreciated him very much. He wrote me a very encouraging note my first year at VMI, at a time when I needed some encouragement. May the Lord comfort you greatly during these days.

My Condolences to the McKenna Family.
'Click' was a fabulous football coach, working with the backfield positions when I was in high school. I still remember him running thru the tire drill to show us how it should be done. While I didn't have 'Click' as a teacher, Many of my classmates still speak fondly of him, so know he had a positive influence on them. He was also a good neighbor on Timberlake, and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
