FIELDALE, Va. - Elder William "Bill'' Daniel McRae, 68, of 238 Calloway Drive, Fieldale, Va. died Monday, February 28, 2005 at Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 3, 1936 in Red Springs, N.C. to the late Rev. John McRae and Panzie Shaw McRae. He lived in Henry County, Va. for 42 years.
Surviving are wife, Mary H. McRae of the home; two daughters, Shelia Jones of Fieldale, Va. and Audrey Ray of Red Springs, N.C.; two sons, Steven McRae of Germany and Orlando McRae of Fredrick, Maryland; two sisters, Ruthie M. Bridges of Suitland, Maryland and Pansy McRae of Fayetteville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his sister, Glendora Robertson.
He was owner and publisher of Positive News for eight years.
He was a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, Assistant Minister, CEO, owner of MacRae Enterprises and co-owner of the Hair Studio. He was a 2001 recipient of the SBA Virginia Home Based Business Advocate of the Year and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force (Korean Conflict.)
The remains will be placed in the church Friday at 6 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be at the home at other times. In lieu of flowers please make donations to: Positive National Newspaper c/o McRae Enterprises, 238 Calloway Drive, Fieldale, Va.
Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at Pentecostal Assembly Building by Elder David A. Powell, Sr. Burial will be at Carver Memorial Gardens, Martinsville, Va.
Hines Funeral Services, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
