Age 54, of Hope Mills, N.C. residing in Gray's Creek, formerly of Avon-dale, PA, passed away March 25, 2010 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, NC. Born September 26, 1955, the son of the late Katherine Markgraf and Richard Marshall Meadowcroft of Largo, FL.
He graduated from Avon-Grove High School, West Grove, PA and served in the US Army. Bill was employed by the DuPont Company where he worked for 36 years. He worked at both the Experimental Station in Wilmington, DE. and at Fayetteville Works in Fayetteville, NC. He was a Senior Technical Service Representative for the Nafion business and many called him "Mr. Nafion ". He was an inventor of new products and had many years of experience in supporting customer needs around the world. Bill was a published author in 2001, documenting just some of his knowledge of chlor-alkali processes. Bill was a very special, kind and loving person and was always there if you needed help. He was a life member of the Avondale Fire Company where he served actively for over 20 years.
While in NC, Bill enjoyed spending time at the Allen brother's farm in Bladen-boro, NC and had many friends there. Bill loved animals and owned a small farm in Gray's Creek as a Cattleman and also owned horses. He was a member of the NRA and the Turbo Diesel Registry.
Bill is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary ( Molly) Macleary Meadowcroft; 2 sons: James Macleary Meadowcroft, Hope Mills NC. and William (BJ) Meadowcroft Jr. of Atglen PA; 2 daughters: Mary Katherine Meadowcroft, Hope Mills NC, and Anna Marie Butler, Wilmington, DE and 1 granddaughter Hailie Butler; 1 brother Richard Marshall Meadowcroft and wife Sandra, Pottstown, PA; 2 sisters, Joyce Meadowcroft Magonigal and life partner, Mark J Testa, Ft Myers, FL, and Sally Mason, husband Robert, Chadds Ford, PA.
His loving family and friends will miss him very much.
There will be a Memorial Service for Bill at the Avondale Fire Company Hall, Rte 41 (Newport Gap Pike) Avondale, PA Saturday April 24 at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of William may be made to: Friends of The Cancer Center, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, 1638 Owen Dr., Fayetteville, N C, 28304.
