Former Pastor of Irving Park Baptist Church which I and my family used to go to as children. Pastor Myers gave the eulogy for my youngest sister while my parents, my brothers, and sister listened. It was a small and private service. I remember how personal he made it for us.

It was 1968 and I was home from the Marine Corps on Leave. I had spent a little bit of time talking to his oldest daughter (Christine?) while I was at North Shore church where he went to be the pastor of after Irving Park Baptist. I asked him if I could shoot some baskets in their gym and he made sure I was given a ball. We had played basketball there as a part of a small church league.

He was a good man. I am sorry I did not catch up with him before this time. I believe he would have been happy to meet my wife and three children. He would have been happy to see how I had turned out too. I will keep him in my thoughts and wish his family well..

Regards,

Bill

Dear Gerry and Family,

We received the news of the passing of my first cousin with profound and deep sadness.

Bill truly loved his aunt, my Mother, Dorothea which he fondly called his Aunt Dode. When Bill was in our home a sense of wellbeing was felt.

It is hard to put into words and some may think this sounds silly. However, I felt the presence of God in Bill's presence!!

When I was nominated for the Distinguished Alumnus Award at Hannibal-LaGrange University. Bill authored an extremely touching letter supporting my nomination. I have always felt Bill's letter carried the day in my receiving this great honor!

Cousin Bill was President of the Northern Baptist Theological Seminary at that time.

My precious wife Doreen and I thoroughly enjoyed your visits to our former home in Bloomington, Illinois.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. In the end we can all rest assured Bill is now soaring with the Angels!

May God Bless!

You were the standard at which all other Pastors should've strived for. I was blessed to do 4 years of youth Ministry in California, way back, and I proudly modeled it after my years at NSBC. The Ministry of Pastor Myers lives on in all of us! May God comfort & keep the Family. See you in Heaven Pastor Myers!!! PS, say hello to my Mom & Dad. Thanks.

We know Bill has earned his wings Gerry. May God's grace embrace and comfort you during this difficult time in your life. Affectionate hugs to all Bill's family. I am sure Bill will be sitting with God's son Jesus Christ when he has risen and all are judged.

I have many fond memories of Pastor Myers as a young boy growing up at North Shore Baptist Church in Chicago, and am grateful for his pastoral leadership even if I was too young at that time to understand or appreciate the way I do now. I send love and condolences to Gerry and the rest of the family from here in the Philippines.

Evelyn & Virgil Reeve treasure the 50 years of memories we have been privileged to share with Gerry and Bill. Not the least is the special relationship we share her at Windsor Park where we have had great fellowship. I treasure Bill's last words on 12-31-15 at 3:40 PM after we shared his favorite hymn and we had prayer. He said: "Virgil, If I do not see you here again, I will see you in Heaven." Gerry shared her favorite text of John 14:1-3. We all know that Christ has kept His promise and that Bill is in his "place prepared." We celebrate our shared hope! Evelyn & Virgil Reeve
