William Norris Obituary

William Randal (Randy) Norris, 47, passed away April 24, 2008 in Wichita Falls, TX. He is the son of Eddie and Kathy Brady Norris, and was born February 25, 1961 in Lake City, FL. he was a member of the First Advent Christian Church in Lake City and the Floral Heights Methodist Church in Wichita Falls.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan, four children, Christian 15, Timothy 12, Benjamin 8 and his little princess, Jennie Katherine, 5, parents, Eddie and Kathy Norris, Lake City, FL, loving aunt Betty Brady Bedingfield, Conyers, GA and uncle J.H. Brady , Vero Beach, FL. Preceded in death by paternal grandparents Lucious and Iris Myrtle Smith Norris, maternal grandparents, Edna and John Brady, Key West.

Randy graduated from Forest Hills Academy in 1979, Lake City Community College in May 1980. He received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Florida, May 1984. To further his education he earned his Masters and Doctorate Degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi. August 13, 1989 he and Susan were married in Vicksburg, MS. They continued their college work and in December 1989, he and Susan received their degrees at the same time.

He was the Assistant Chief Psychologist at Denton State School, Denton, TX from 1990-2002. The family moved to Wichita Falls and he taught as an adjunct faulty member of North Central Texas College for 15 years. He was on staff, as the director of Psychology for the Geriatrics Department at North Texas State Hospital in Wichita Falls. he cared deeply about his patients and worked hard to provide them the best care possible. Randy was active in child and youth ministries at Floral Heights United Methodist. He served on the Board of Trustees, sang in the adult choir, taught High School Sunday School, was active in every sector of the church and touched many lives. He served as Cub Master and Troop Chaplain for Boy Scouts Troop 1.

His greatest joy in life was spending with his family. He loved playing with the kids in the pool, reading bedtime stories and going on my camping trips. Randy loved parades and never missed an opportunity to participate in one. He always walked with a spring in his step and a smile on his face. He is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Services were held in his church April 29, 2008 in Wichita Falls.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008, at 10:30 A.M. at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 1, 2008 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please support your local charity. Eddie and Kathy,

I taught Randy at Forest Hills Academy 1974-1976 and remember what a fine young man he was as a student...I have been told over the years that he was a psychologist and was doing some great work. Skip and I are so very sorry to hear of such a terrible loss. Your many wonderful memories of Randy will comfort you in the long days ahead.
