William Odeneal Obituary

Published by Dallas Morning News from Apr. 5 to Apr. 6, 2014.
Odeneal Jr., William Clyde Born in Dallas, TX at his Grandmother's house in Oak Cliff on June 29, 1923, Bill Odeneal began his new life with his Lord and Savior on April 01, 2014. Bill loved life, was always available for an in depth conversation with anyone anytime. He made time for others in his busy life, and he never forgot the value and the meaning of true friendship. If Bill was your friend, you knew somehow things were going to work out; he could talk anyone through anything. Bill proudly served the country he loved in the U.S. Navy in World War II as an officer aboard LST 339 in the South Pacific Theater. He graduated from Rice University in Houston in 1947, and then earned his law degree from SMU in 1950. Bill's father W. Clyde Odeanel, Sr., founded the law firm of Odeneal and Odeneal so the two of them could work together in the profession they both loved, and they were law partners for thirty years. Bill never considered doing anything else in his life but being an attorney like his father, and he loved every day of it, from when he was licensed in 1950 to his passing in 2014. Retirement never crossed Bill's mind. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Hazel Odeneal; sister, Virginia; his beloved wife of forty four years, Lou Odeneal; and daughter, Leah Odeneal. He is survived by his son and law partner, Logan Odeneal; daughter-in-law, Betty Odeneal; grand-children, Lauren Odeneal and William Odeneal, and many friends from all corners of the globe. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Services for Bill will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday April 12, 2014 at Northway Christian Church, 7202 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas, Dr. Douglas Skinner officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northway Christian Church or any faith based organization in daily service to the Lord. Bill's favorite sayings were "Actions speak louder than words" and "Fear is the opposite of Faith". Amen.

Dear Betty and Logan. I was so sorry to hear of your father's passing. It was a privilege to have met Mr. Odeneal at your home several years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May there be moments of comfort in your sadness and times of peace in the days ahead. Your father is with Jesus now.
Love, Sharon.
