William Roy Pudvan M.D.

William Roy Pudvan, M.D. passed away on February 23, 2023 in Columbus, Ohio at the age of 96. Bill was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Ann and Bert Pudvan on May 2, 1926 and grew up on the west side of Cleveland with his twin brother and two sisters. He is pre-deceased by his parents, siblings, and wife, Eileen. Surviving him are seven loving children and their families, a result of two wonderful marriages, and fifteen grand- children, 7 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Upon graduating from high school, Bill entered the U.S. Navy Air Corps for two years as a Radio Gunner. After the Navy, the GI Bill allowed Bill to enter and graduate from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. He went on to receive his M. D. From Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1953. He did a one-year internship at Minneapolis General Hospital, and then returned to Ohio where he practiced family medicine for 11 years in the towns of Mechanicsburg and Willoughby. Deciding to specialize, Bill trained at the Cleveland Clinic and VA Hospital during a four year residency in radiology. Upon completion, Cleveland Clinic invited him to stay for a one year fellowship. In 1969, Bill and Wilfrid Gill, M.D., established a partnership in radiology at Lakewood Hospital in Lakewood, Ohio where Bill remained until retirement. Bill had an insatiable thirst for learning that lasted into his nineties, a great sense of humor and was a wonderful storyteller. He loved to travel, fish and spend time with his family. His children and grandchildren enjoyed listing to and sharing in, Bill's adventures. He will be missed tremendously. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at Busch Funeral Home, 21369 Center Ridge Rd., Fairview Park, OH on March 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. A reception will immediately follow the service at the funeral home.
