William R. "Bill" Plante, Sr., 81, of Manchester died unexpectedly on April 22, 2022, at his residence. Born in Littleton on May 17, 1940, he was the son of the late Natalie Plante. He was a graduate of Libson High School and worked as a machinist for many years before retiring from Texas Instruments in 2001. Bill loved to garden and to fix things. He was a woodworker and enjoyed spending time fishing. Bill took great pride in setting up holiday displays at his home as well. He was unique man with a "colorful" language. He was vivacious and "full of it". Bill had a great sense of humor, enjoyed life and was quite the prankster. Above all else, he will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Surviving family members include his beloved wife of 37 years, Judith P. (Preble) Plante of Manchester; three children, William Plante, Jr. of Sanford, ME, Peter Plante of Washburn, Me; and his daughter Stephanie; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Paul Plante in 2001; his mother; and his brother, Charles Plante. SERVICES: A visitation will take place from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm, with a funeral service beginning promptly at 1:30 pm on Thursday at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St., Manchester, NH 03104. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Road, Manchester. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to: American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Ste. 300, Rockville MD 20852.
