WILLIAM CUSTER RAMPLEY

William Custer Rampley "Ramp" was born in Erath County on July 10, 1921, to the late Willard Harvey and Mirl Cox Rampley. Custer passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at the age of 85.
He is survived by: brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert and June Rampley of Stephenville, John and Ernestine Rampley of Proctor; sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey and Della Rampley of Goliad, Dale and Michele Thompson of Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tommy Butler of Refugio; grandchildren, Katherine Ram-pley Camplain of Refugio, Curtis Rampley of Cuero, Glen Butler of Portland, Tracy Butler Daugird of Corpus Christi, and Courtney Nichols of Austin; five great-grandchildren, Brayn Zane Rampley, Maci Ryanne Rampley, Kaleb Gar-rett Camplain, Alyson Nicole Camplain, and Matthew Thomas Daugird.
He was a World War II veteran and served in the United States Navy - Aviation as a tail gunner in a PV-2 bomber in the Pacific Theater. He worked for the Refugio County Soil Conservation Service for 35 years and Butler Oil Tool Company for 10 years. He had been retired for approximately 20 years. He was a member of the Refugio Church of Christ and a member of the local VFW.
He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He always tried to see the good in people and less of their faults. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2nd at Moore Funeral Home in Refugio. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3rd at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4th at West End Cemetery in Stephenville.
