Steve, Denny, Karen and Paul and families,

I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of your dad, Bill.
No matter how old you are, it's so hard losing your parents. How comforting to know that we have the promise of life ever-lasting and we will be together again. God's peace and blessings to all of you.

My Grandpa, Bill Reschke, was and will always be very special to me. As far back as I can remember, I wanted to be like him in many ways. I dreamed of having my own pristine, organized workshop like his, and woodworking skills to match. One of my favorite memories is of Grandpa showing a teenaged me how to turn wood on his lathe.

His love of music also rubbed off on me. He was an audiophile and connoisseur of the classics. The image of him sitting in his recliner wearing big old headphones and wiggling his toes to the music, remains in my head. I also treasure my memories of childhood Christmases at Grandma and Grandpa's and the Reschke Christmas Band playing in the basement.

Grandpa always had something funny to say, even when life was difficult. He never complained. He also never failed to let me know how proud he was of me.

I love him very much and will miss him dearly.

My Dad, William T. Reschke, died on Friday, March 16th after a brief battle with congestive heart failure. He had just turned 93 on March 3rd and was proud to share his birthday with his 6-yr-old great-granddaughter, Ellery Beardsley. Family members had the opportunity to chat with him and bid him "Farewell" before he died pain-free and peacefully in his sleep early Friday morning. Dad had a paralyzing stroke 22 years ago; but he never complained about his situation. He spent his life with my Mom, Glen until she died last February. They had been married 68 years and raised 4 children, who gave them 7 grand-children and 8 great-grand-children. Dad will be remembered for his 30-year career at Honeywell and his woodworking talent, turning specially selected wood on a lathe resulting in fine wine goblets, bowls, vases and other gorgeous pieces. He also had a tremendous appreciation for classical music, sang in the church choir and played French horn in the Honeywell band for decades. Most of all, I will remember his quick wit and endless supply of puns, tongue-in-cheek comments and hilarious words of wisdom, often laughing so hard himself that he could barely get the words out. What a fine man! Rest in peace, Dad. I will always remember you with love and a smile. Your Favorite Daughter, Karen June, aka "Taffy Candy"
