William Rew Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 4, 2025.
William P. "Billy" Rew, 67, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, in Akron, New York, with family at his side.

Born on July 10, 1957, in Niagara Falls, New York.

Billy dedicated much of his working life to Iron Worker's Local #7 in Boston, Massachusetts-a career he deeply loved. His time in Boston was marked not only by hard work and craftsmanship, but he was a legend at EDDIE C's and he was loved by the ITAM club. The city held a special place in his heart, as did the brotherhood of ironworkers with whom he shared so many years.

He is lovingly remembered by his sister Barbara (Allan) Winstanley and his brother Michael. His legacy continues through his nieces and nephew, who knew him as someone who could always bring a smile to their faces.

Billy was predeceased by his parents, William and Patricia (Sweet), as well as his brother Patrick.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and joy to those who recall his laughter.

It's Lewis "Louie" Ianni of Firestone, CO, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY. Billy, my friend of 50 years, I am deeply saddened by your passing. I can't believe you are gone and way too soon. I only saw this 2 days ago and needed time to gather my thoughts. Our sympathy to Barbara, Michael and your nieces and nephew from me, my Sister Shelly and Mom, Rose. We had many FUN times that I will always remember. I am glad our paths in life crossed. I always look at my friends as the brothers I never had, and you are no exception Brother Billy. I will miss you greeting me with your exuberant shout of "LOUIEEEEE", to which I would always respond "WILLIAM P."! Your other ways of greeting me were to break out in song with "Louie Louie" by the Kingmen, or exclaiming "BROTHER LOUIE". You were unique; had the kindest heart and you enjoyed life to its fullest. I'm glad our friendship extended to us knowing each other's parents and siblings and the additional memories we made on that level. You are now with your parents, Patrick and your grandparents. I know my Dad, Frank was there to meet you as you entered heaven. I wish I could hear "LOUIEEEEE" just one more time. God Bless, Billy and may your Soul Rest In Peace, my Friend. Love to all. Lewis, Shelly and Rose Ianni

I Have Been Friends With Billy For Many Years And In All Of Those Years You Never Knew What He Was Going To Come Out With. One Thing for Certain Is That He Always Got A Laugh Out Of You No Matter How Stressful A Situation Might Have Been.
He Lived Life On His Own Terms And Faced His Final Days With Courage And Dignity.
I´ll Miss His Sense Of Humour And The Sound Of His Laugh.
RIP My Brother
You Are Already Missed And Will Not Be Forgotten.

I am very sorry for your loss.
Billy and I worked as Local 7 Ironworkers together for years. He was always a bright spot in a tough and demanding field. Billy always took care of the Ironworkers. Watching out for the new people and making sure they were treated right.
I miss you Billy!
