William Reynolds Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 20 to Jan. 22, 2024.
William (Bill) Alfred Reynolds, 91, of Alpena passed away peacefully with his family by his side in Colorado on January 19, 2024. Bill was born in Akron, Ohio on May 31, 1932 to Denver and Helen Reynolds. Bill married the love of his life, Victoria (Vickie) Hamina, on February 14, 1952 while attending Michigan Technological University. Shortly after he received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, he was drafted and served two years in the United States Army. He returned to Alpena and spent his entire 32 year career working as an electrical engineer for Huron Portland Cement. He and his wife of nearly 72 years raised three sons, William (Linda) of Hancock, MI, John (Crystal) of Marquette, MI, Thomas (Simin) of San Diego, CA and one daughter, Cynthia (Kim) of Wheat Ridge, CO.

While working, Bill spent 20 years building a 37 foot teak yawl which he named the "Victoria Queen" and for the next 14 years sailed in Thunder Bay and the North Channel in Canada. His son Bill continues to sail this beautiful boat on Lake Superior. After retirement Bill spent his winters in Colorado skiing at Arrowhead and Beaver Creek. His summers were spent at Grand Lake building and flying radio-controlled model sea planes. Bill also enjoyed wonderful trips including Antarctica, Australia/New Zealand, Galapagos Islands, Finland, Norway, Ireland and England.

In addition to his wife and four children, he is survived by his brother-in-law, Jerry Walters, and his seven loving grandchildren, Bill (Cameo), Julie, Sarah (Tony), Anna (Mitch), Leah (Joe), Emily (Nathan) and Greg and three beautiful great grandchildren Van, William Atlas and Medora.

Bill was preceded in death by his sisters Darlene (Frank) Woodward and Arlene Walters.

Bill's wishes were to be honored in our hearts and with loving memories without a service.
