Bill's last email to me was on 15January2015 - little did I know when I called today (28Jan2015) that Helen would share that he died.
He loved Helen and their children and grandchildren and Life - and was looking forward to more trips and moving into their new home.
I am grateful for his friendship via emails and telephone and thought.
Shalom, my friend, and rest in peace.
Gentle as you go,

Dear gentle kind friend whose last email to me was 15Jan2015. Today I called him and Helen gave me the sad news.
I loved when he called to find out how I am and shall miss him and his sharing his love for Helen and their children and grandchildren - and shall remember always how much he enjoyed Life.
RIP and Shalom, dear Bill.
Gentle as you go,

I want to thank Helen, Bill's sons and his daughter, their spouses, and all the extended Rogerson family for treating me like one of their own in the time after the funeral. Bill was a great friend, and a good man, who did his best to live the way Jesus told us to live, and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I have a few other close friends, of course, but none that I think more of than "Billy Rogerson." RIP with the Lord, Bill....from writing our book together to "hanging out" with our wives, Helen and Donna, to just talking on the phone on a regular basis----I will miss it all so much!

I was so touched by Uncle Bill in a way no one will understand. His presence in a room was one that he demanded respect and deserved it. He will be missed by so many, especially you Aunt Helen.

Bill and I became friends through an esophageal cancer support group, actually meeting online through their "chat room." Not long after, my wife Donna and I visited Williamsburg on a short trip, and Bill and Helen got together with us and visited. We became friends, got together several times in the next few years in GA and VA, and down at our place at Myrtle Beach, SC. As time passed, Bill and I became very close friends. I had written a memoir of my time in the Army in Vietnam, entitled "No Sweat, GI", and was in the process of writing another book about my ordeal with cancer, and how God and Christ brought me through it. When Bill sent me some e-mails he had sent to his friends and family during his own, tough struggle with "the beast" of cancer, I asked him to join me in writing a book together.....and, as they say, "the rest is history." I contacted my publishers, they put their heads together, and our joint project became "Journeys Through Cancer and Faith". Although I never had a brother in my family when growing up in my hometown of Georgetown, SC, I always wanted one, when a little boy....well, God finally sent me a close friend who was (and is, still), just like a brother to me....my good friend and fine, Christian gentleman----William L. (Bill) Rogerson, Jr. We will always miss you, Bill....but we'll meet again someday, with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Helen,
Tim and I add our condolences to others as you work through your grief. We only met once before you moved into the neighborhood - you came by our open house at Christmas, and we were so pleased you were going to join us in Harvest Glen. May God grant you peace and comfort as you gather with all those who care about you and loved Bill. The Williams

Bill was a true friend, Christian brother and gentleman. He was very knowledgeable about many subjects, especially finance, and it was a pleasure to be around him. Carolyn and I looked forward to being with him and Helen every chance we had.
Even though Bill had stage IV cancer, he remained upbeat and he did not let it get him down. He looked forward to sharing his experience with others who had cancer and he was an inspiration to all who came in contact with him.
Bill will be missed and Carolyn and I look forward to seeing him again in heaven in one day.

Dear Helen,
Please accept my sincere sympathy. We have never met, but while my husband was fighting the terrible EC beast, Bill's book gave us such hope. May God bless you with peace and comfort.

I too had the honor of working with Bill at SSC. Via his guidance I was able to accomplish much more than I thought possible. Bill was always there with advice, suggestions and if necessary, a scolding. I thank God for putting Bill Rogerson in my life. I hope his family can realize how many lives Bill touched and use that to help them through his passing. It was always evident that God was guiding Bill, his faith was that evident. God Bless You in Heaven Bill. Gary A. Rafferty

I had the priviledge to work with Bill at Southern States. He was a good mentor and shared his wisdom willingly. He loved God and it showed in his life at work and away from work. I will miss his warm smile and wit. My prayers go out to Helen and family as they have lost a treasure of a man. Allen Melton

I have met few people in my life who were more humble or more accepting of the reality of what is without fighting or denying it than Bill Rogerson, and I will miss knowing he is an email or phone call or Facebook post away. I will long remember him and be grateful for the opportunity to have known him, even for a short while.

Dear Helen and the Rogerson Family,
Nick and I loved being your neighbors for the past 12 years. Our times together will never be forgotten. We did a lot of praying for Bill during his health issue scare with Esophagel Cancer and to over come that to attack other health issues and Helen's health issues.Bill's passing was so unexpected as we looked forward to having coffee and desert nite once they were all settled into their new place. Bill is with the Lord God Almighty. No doubt that. We will miss him. RIP our friend. We hope to see you someday.
God Bless.
