William Stevens Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 17, 2025.
William G. Stevens, affectionately known as Bill, Billy, Dad, Pap, and Great Pap and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was 84 years old and was surrounded by love at the time of his passing, including his devoted companion of 11 years, Jean Christian-Richardson.

Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to William and Lorena White Stevens, Bill led a life marked by dedication to family, service to his country, and a deep passion for classic automobiles. At just 17 years old, driven by a strong sense of duty, he enlisted in the United States Navy after misrepresenting his age. It was during his naval service while docked in Boston that he met Judith "Judy" Stevens. Their meeting sparked a partnership that would span nearly five decades. Married for 49 years until Judy's passing in 2012, their union was one of enduring love and shared purpose.

Bill and Judy settled in Dedham, Massachusetts, where they raised their family and built a life rooted in warmth and tradition. Bill worked for the United States Postal Service while also cherishing time with his loved ones. Summers were often spent camping-creating treasured memories that became an integral part of the family's story.

Together they raised three children: Robert Stevens and his wife Caroline; Mark Stevens; and Kimberly Choate and her husband Matthew. Bill found immense pride in watching his family grow. He was a devoted grandfather to Derek King, Jessalyn King, Ryan Wisniewski and his wife Amanda Jane, and Alyssa and her fiancé Dylan. His joy only deepened with the arrival of three great-granddaughters: Olivia Nyx, Layla Nicole, and Emily Opal.

A man of many interests, Bill had a lifelong love for antique cars. He not only restored them with care but also proudly showcased them in parades and car shows throughout the region. His enthusiasm for vintage automobiles led him to become one of the founding members of the Baystate Antique Auto Club-a role he held with great pride.

After Judy's passing, Bill found companionship once again with Jean Christian-Richardson. Together they relocated to Zephyrhills, Florida, where they built a warm community of friends and shared many joyful years.

In accordance with his wishes, Bill will be cremated. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. If you have anything you would like to contribute to the Celebration of Life for Bill Stevens (pictures, stories, etc.) please contact his daughter at [email protected].

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
