MARYVILLE, Mo. - William W. "Bill" Stoddard, 85, of Maryville and formerly of Shenandoah, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, in Maryville.
Mr. Stoddard was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Shenandoah. He attended the Shenandoah Community Schools and was graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1940.
He entered into service in 1944 in the Army during World War II until his discharge in 1946.
In September of 1949, Bill was united in marriage to Wanda Younger in Shenandoah. They made their home in Shenandoah, where Bill worked as a supervisor for Meadow Gold Dairies for around 35 years. Following his retirement, he worked for George Jay Drug part-time.
He was a life member of the Shenandoah American Legion Post No. 88. Bill enjoyed bowling and golfing.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Wanda; brother, Jerry Stoddard; sister, Virginia Lagerquist; and his parents, Wm. A. and Bernice.
Survivors include his children, Lyle Farquhar, and wife, Pat of Platte City, Mo.; Judy Reitz, and husband, Larry of Independence, Mo.; and Vickie Geist, and husband, Rob of Maryville; six grandchildren, Lea Ann Pasquale of Olathe, Kan.; Scott Farquhar, and wife, Kati of Folsom, Calif.; Roland Reitz, and wife, Pattie of Grand Forks, N.D.; Crystal Carter, and husband, David of Independence; Angie Gaebler, and husband, Brad of Kansas City, Mo.; and Rob Geist III, and wife, Johna of Lee's Summit, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces, Karen Imm, and husband, Paul; and Pat Lagerquist, all of Minnesota.
The funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Burial, with full military rites, will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at the funeral home.
Memorials are being directed to the Shenandoah American Legion Post No. 88.
