Tito, William J., 82, of Clearwater, Florida, went to be with the Lord on July 11, 2014. He was at home under Hospice care. His loving wife of 60 years, Helen, remained at his bedside surrounded by his family. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Margaret, and his brother Louis, and he is survived by his sister Eleanor. He leaves behind his wife, Helen A. Tito and their five children; son, William (Bill) Tito and his companion Rosemary Boscardin, son, Thomas (Tom) Tito and wife Emilia, daughter, Patricia (Patty) Radosti and husband Joseph, daughter, Diane Tito-Swim, and daughter, Theresa (Terry) Tito and partner Alicia Williams ; grandchildren, Ken Felt Jr., Stephanie Maher, Billy Tito, Tommy Tito, Stephen Tito and Morgan Swim; and recently two great granddaughters, Kelly Tito and Elizabeth Maher. He was a NY city firefighter for twenty-one years retiring in 1979. He loved being a firefighter and had many lifetime firefighter friends. He will be greatly missed by his wife and their children as he was the most loving and hardworking husband, father, and grandfather. He was well known for his delicious firehouse recipes, his sense of humor and was a loyal New York Yankee fan. He was a lifetime Roman Catholic. Bill was faithful and always reminding his children that he was going to heaven to be with his brother, Louis, and letting us know that “we will all be together in heaven some day”.

Although we never had the pleasure of meeting Bill Tito Sr or his wife...we have had the pleasure of being very close friends with his son Bill Jr. We met him through my sister Rosemary Boscardin many years ago and welcomed him into our family. Young Bill is a kind, caring and often funny guy who I am sure reflects the kind of man Bill Sr. was. We enjoyed looking at all the pictures posted. Please accept our heartfelt sympathy for your loss. May the memories of happy times shared be of comfort to you all now in your sorrow. With Our Deepest Sympathy...Sally & Artie

I remember Bill as a man who enjoyed what he did and enjoyed who he was with. His knowledge of firefighting was second to none and his ability to teach was a gift. I have thought of him often, even after I left the job. One memory that clings to me is being at a fire at the Polo Grounds public housing. We were getting our "tickets punched' but Billy held fast and encouraged us to go on. Those were special times and Bill was a special man.

As a young probie starting out. I always looked up to Billy. Hanging out with him at the house watch or on the apparatus floor he would teach me Firefighting methods and tools. The other probies and I would hang on every word of his fire stories. I can see him now running up stairs 3 steps at a time with his cut off turn out coat and tools in his hands. With me trying to keep up, lagging behind. On his last tour we had a big fire. The other probies and I were telling him "Your going out as a Lion Billy". Little did we know. We had 3 big fires that night. It was the first time I heard the phrase on the radios "It's another Harlem Sunrise gentlemen". Billy refused early relief that morning. We all waited by the house watch for the last minutes to count down. Which of course was interrupted by another run. Truck only water leak. Billy took it in. I can see him now hang off the side of the rig waving goodbye .Thank you Billy for all you taught me. Your still going "Out as a Lion". My condolences to your family. We've lost a great man.

Bill was the best firefighter, the most generous teacher, the finest cook and the most loyal friend that a man could ever hope to have. I met him as a young probationary firefighter and will be forever in his debt for sharing his expertise, for his many kindnesses and his generosity. He will be missed by all that had the privilege to know him and to serve with him. I know of no one anywhere who held Bill in anything but the highest regard and respect. There are two main, but simple, compliments that one firefighter can pay to another: One is that "he's a good firefighter." The other is that, "he's a real gentleman." Bill Tito was both. I'll miss you Bill and the world will be less without you. God bless your soul.

I will always remember the father-son trip to Biloxi and the great time we had as sons sharing the day with all of our fathers. I would like to extend my condolences to the entire Tito family.
Sincerely,
