William Torrance Obituary

William James Torrance 1929 - 2017 TORRANCE, Bill (William James)

1929 - 2017

Bill Torrance passed peacefully on June 12th in the presence of his loved ones. Bill's career with the Bank of Toronto, then TD Bank, began in 1947 in his hometown of Transcona, Manitoba, as an Assistant Clerk, aged 17, eventually rising to Credit Supervisor in Alberta and retiring in 1988 after 41 years. Bill served his communities in Alberta in the Kinsmen and K40s, then the Kiwanis and, in retirement in British Columbia, the Lions. He was a frequent champion sportsman from a schoolboy curler in Manitoba to a senior lawn bowler with the White Rock Lawn Bowling Club. He was very appreciative of the many great friendships he developed through his career, service, and sport. Bill was predeceased by Joyce, his wife of 54 years, in 2006. He is survived by his proud sons Randy and Douglas, his brother David Torrance (and wife Sonia) and sister-in-law Lorraine Keith (and husband Gordon) and his bowling partner and very special loving and caring friend of the last ten years, Helen Usen. No service, by request.

Having known Bill for over 50 years I can recall many enjoyable times spent together at both work ( TD Bank) and off hours curling and golfing with Bill and Joyce. My sincere condolences to the family.

Bill Torrance was very well respected by all of us who worked with him in the T.D. Bank. We enjoyed his company at many social and sporting events that he was active in, and are sad to see the passing of such a fine man.
