William “Bubba” Ray Toups, Jr., 58, of Westlake, LA, died Friday, August 12, 2022, in a Houston hospital surrounded by family.
He was born October 23, 1963, in Beaumont, TX to Patsy and William Ray Toups, Sr. He was a 1982 graduate of Nederland High School and lived in the Nederland area most of his life until moving to Westlake, LA thirteen years ago. He was a longtime member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland, TX. He worked as a frontline supervisor at Exxon Mobil for twenty-six years, retiring on December 31, 2021. He had a great love of sports and also enjoyed coaching baseball and football. His favorite teams to cheer on included LSU, Dallas, the Texas Longhorns, Nederland Bulldogs and the Westlake Rams. He also enjoyed fishing, crabbing and watching wrestling, but his true passion was always for his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of thirteen years, Juanita Young Toups; sons, Trent Toups and wife, Jayce, Trey Toups and wife Natalie, Zachary Vincent and wife Megan, Jacob Vincent and wife Nene, and Michael Williamson and fiancée, Haley Terro; daughter, Khloe Young; grandchildren, Peyton, Elyjah, Baylor Ray, Grey, Harlow, Aydrian, Braxton, Charlee, Autumn, Taylee, and Bailee; sisters, Donna Ledger, Candy Sattler (Mike Emerson), Kristy Davis (Jim), and Tammy Underwood (Lesley); mother and father-in-law, Peggy and Scott Young; special nephew, Rick Elizondo (Tenicia); brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Amy Young; his fur babies, Oreo and Corky; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of Mr. Toups’ family and friends will be 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
Visitation will continue at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service. His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Sifford officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.
The family would like to express a special word of thanks to the staff at Houston Methodist Hospital Liver Transplant Team for the excellent care and compassion given.

Zach and Megan, I’m so sorry for your loss. I pray that your precious memories of your dad, father-in-law are always on your mind and in your heart. May God comfort you both, as well as your family, until you meet again.
