William Walters Obituary

William Shane Walters, 28, of Stephenville, ended his courageous battle with leukemia Thursday, October 13, 2005. Shane was born March 3, 1977, the second child of Keith and Judy Walters. He was diagnosed with leukemia in July of 2001. His bravery and strength through the illness have been an inspiration to his family and friends. Shane spent his childhood and attended school in Odessa where he was a graduate of Permian High School's class of 1995. He was a talented drummer in the Permian Panther Band. For the past eight years he had served as a committed production manager for Outlaw Conversions in Stephenville. He loved his job, and developed many friendships in the company, as well as with his outside customers and vendors. Shane was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Thelma Smith of Odessa; and by his uncle, Gary Walters of Huntington. Shane and "Uncle Gary" enjoyed a unique friendship, being alike in their unique personalities and sense of humor. Survivors include the love of his life and ever-present support, Rebecca Atteberry of Stephenville, his parents, Keith and Judy Walters of Conroe, his brother and sister-in-law, Chad and Krietina Walters of Greenwood, Texas his brother, Eric Walters of Stephenville, aunts a nd uncles, Beverly and Tom Havard and Brenda Walters of Huntington, Philip and June Smith of Conroe, Dennis and Sandi Smith of Ada, Oklahoma and Mary Moreno of California. His surviving grandparents are Quinton and Nelda Walters of Huntington. He also has a number of nieces, nephews and cousins to cherish his memory, as well as his very special friend, John Walker. Shane will also be greatly missed by his two dogs, Gus and Lilly. They were his only "children" and they had the privilege of knowing the love of a special master. Serving as pallbearers are Cory Hines, Adam Nerren, Keith Palmer, Casey Vines, Shanin Vinson, John Walker, and his brothers, Chad Walters and Eric Walters. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane's co-workers at Outlaw Conversions. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 16, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Huntington First Baptist Church with Dr. Darryl Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery. Donations may be made to The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486, for CML research. Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Huntington, directors
