Bastuk, John M. "Uncle John"

Webster: Monday, March 19, 2012 at age 96. Predeceased by his brothers, Charles & Metro Bastuk. Survived by his sister-in-law, Marie (Sokolsky) Bastuk; niece, Kathy (Frank Churnetski) Bastuk; nephews, Bill (Therese Corrigan) Bastuk, Stephen (Liz) Bastuk; great-niece, Lauren Churnetski; great-nephews, Michael Churnetski, Garrett Bastuk, Chase Bastuk; and sister-in-law, Genie Bastuk. He was a founding member of the Holy Name Society and a member of the Ukrainian American Club. John was a graduate of Franklin High School, where he excelled in swimming and then played semi-professional baseball for 2 years. He retired in 1987 from Chapin Manufacturing. John loved watching Seinfeld, following professional baseball, especially the New York Yankees, as well as football and the Buffalo Bills. After retirement he enjoyed his days at the Finger Lakes Race Track where he made many new friends and was a recognized winner. He will be remembered for his astute knowledge of sports trivia. Most of all "Uncle John" loved affectionately helping raise his niece, nephews, great-niece and great-nephews and following their careers in which he took great pride.

Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Liturgy on Wednesday 10:30 AM at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
