William Zinken

ZINKEN _ William Peter "Bill" William Peter "Bill" Zinken passed away peacefully at the Agape Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer on January 29, 2007. Bill was born in Kitchener, ON, on December 10, 1954. He will be lovingly remembered by: his wife and best friend, Bonnie; sons, Matthew and Gordon (Diana Orzes); mother Marion Zinken; brother Bob (Marilyn); sisters, Sue Hunter and Pat Spruyt; sister and brother-in-law, Donalda and Gerry Ledene; as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephew, and cousins. Bill was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Edward (1968) and his father Kenneth Harvey Zinken (1991). He graduated from SAIT in 1976 and worked in the oil and gas industry for thirty years as a piping designer, checker, and drafting manager. He was a great supporter of his children's ambitions, always finding time to make it to their games and performances. His pride was unmistakable in his son's endeavors. He enjoyed his travels across Canada and frequent camping trips to the mountains as well as his time with friends. Bill never lost his sense of humor. Even during his time at the hospice he was able to brighten the days of those around him with a joke. A special thank you to the staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Hospice Calgary, and Agape Hospice for the excellent care and support that we received. Thank you especially to Dr. Forsyth, Dr. Roldan, Dr. Fong, and palliative home care worker, Henriette. A Memorial Service will be held at Strathmore United Church (410 - 4 Street, Strathmore, AB) on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made in Bill's name directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Hospice Calgary, or to the Agape Hospice.
