It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dearest one: Willie Jean Glasper (affectionately called 'Shorty' by her husband). She was 86 years old and a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She went peacefully to her glory, departing this life on Sunday, August 8, 2021 in Rowlett, Texas. She was the youngest of two children of the late Willie and Valliena Geneva Jackson, Jr. of Baton Rouge. She was baptized at an early age and later became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and retained her membership until her death. She graduated from Capitol High School and received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from Southern University in Baton Rouge. At age 20, she met Berlin 'Bill' Milton Glasper who drove city buses on campus and they later married on June 25, 1955. Willie Jean began her career as an Office Assistant in the Registrar's Office at Southern and later became a dedicated Language Arts Teacher for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System; Dallas ISD in Dallas, Texas; Harrison Central School System in Gulfport, Mississippi; and Ascension Parish School System in Gonzales, Louisiana. In retirement, she enjoyed eating great meals, watching her favorite programs, and listening to music-especially Sunday services. She was an excellent cook but her absolute passions were spending time with family and friends, raising her dogs, fishing, photography, and sightseeing. She is survived by her husband of 66 years: Berlin 'Bill' M. Glasper, Sr.; her children: Iris F. Glasper; Greer K. Glasper, both of Rowlett, Texas; Beryl G. and Herbert Isom of Stonecrest, Georgia; Berlin M. and Cherease W. Glasper, Jr. of Pearland, Texas; her precious grandchildren: Sierra A. Glasper; Darion A. Isom; Berlin M. Glasper, III; Braedon R. Isom; and Aiden M. Glasper; one sister: Billie Mildred Johnson of Baton Rouge; one sister-in-law: Veria Glasper of Benton Harbor, Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; godparents; father-in-law; mother-in-law; grandparents, two aunts; two uncles; ten brothers-in-law; nine sisters-in-law; and other relatives. Our sincere gratitude is extended to her doctors-especially Dr. Zaid Sayhood; nurses; staff; agencies; caregivers; clergy; and friends for their prayers; many contributions; and dedicated service and care to our loved one. Per final wishes and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation or repast. Local Cremation & Funerals in Dallas are in charge of arrangements. Final resting place will be Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary or Southern Memorial Gardens in Baton Rouge.
