Willie Dale Pruitt, age 75, of Calera, OK, died peacefully surrounded by his family, at Homestead of Denison, Denison, TX. Willie was born on March 29, 1941 in Wolfcreek, OK to Willie Lee & Vesta Dora Vines Pruitt. He married Shirley Anderson in Durant, OK on May 30, 1959. To this union were born their children, Gail & Michael. He was fondly known as the "cookie man" as he was a self-employed distributor of "Mama's Cookies" to many businesses in this area. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Colbert, OK.
Willie had a huge heart for people and made friends with everyone. He loved playing dominoes and won many tournaments in Bryan County. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid catfisherman. He also went to Iowa once a year to hunt pheasant. He had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the Harmonica. Country and gospel music were his favorite. Most of all he loved his family and his grandchildren were his treasures.
He is survived by his wife, of their home, Shirley Pruitt, his children; Gayle Ellis & Doyle of Silo, OK, and Michael Pruitt of Sherman, TX, his grandchildren; Justin Pruitt, Liz Kellam, Jerad Kellam, Amber Spence, Becky Rucker, five great-grandchildren, his brother; David Pruitt & Sharon, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lee & Vesta Dora Pruitt.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Colbert, OK. Pastor Michael Calhoun & Pastor Roddy Arnold will officiate. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Calera, OK. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, 6 – 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Colbert.
Pallbearers will be Jerad Kellam, Corey Rucker, Caleb Spence, Bob Pruitt, Gerald Pruitt & Justin Pruitt.
Arrangements are under the direction of American Funeral Service, 107 N. Burney, Colbert, OK. You may sign the guest book at www.americanfuneralservice-fh.com.
