Serena Elizabeth Perry

Serena Elizabeth (Montague) Perry was born February 4, 1923 in Wake Forest, North Carolina to the late William Henry Montague and Millie (Freeman) Montague. She departed this life on November 17, 2012 in Cleveland, Ohio. Serena received her education through the Wake County School system in Wake Forest, NC. In 1941, she moved from North Carolina to New Jersey where she lived for 6 years before moving to Boston, Massachusetts. Serena married Robert H. Perry from Wendell, NC in 1948 and out of this union came one daughter Sanita Perry. She was a devoted wife and mother. Serena worked at New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts for over 25 years retiring in 1986. Then she worked for County Social Services part-time from 1986 to 1996 until moving to Cleveland, Ohio. Serena was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1951. She attended the Boston Congregation and then the Brighton Congregation in Boston, Massachusetts for 44 years. In 1996, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she attended the University Heights Congregation. She remained faithful until the time of death. Serena loved serving Jehovah! She enjoyed cooking and entertaining for family and friends. Once she retired she took pleasure in knitting, crocheting and shopping. Serena was proceeded in death by her husband of 38 years, Robert H. Perry; brothers (sisters-in-law), William (Rosalie), Louis, Joshua, and John Allen (Emma) Montague; and sisters (brother-in-law), Macy Montague, Lacy M. Dillard, (Benjamin) Haywood, and Mabel L. (Jesse) Evans. Serena leaves to cherish her memory: Her dedicated daughter, Sanita Perry (Cleveland, OH); her sister, Mattie Mae Haywood (Newark, DE); 3 sisters-in-law, Betty Montague (Montclair, NJ), Ophelia Montague (East Orange, NJ) and Mabel Perry (Neptune, NJ); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
