Willie Virginia Layn Smallwood, 86, of Duncan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, in Duncan.Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Claud Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment is under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.She was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Claud to Walter Lee and Mary Elizabeth Bryant Layn. Virginia was a homemaker.Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Verna and Bill Pettigrew, and Elizabeth and Jerry Thompson, all of Duncan; a sister, Bonnie Scifres and husband, Perry, of Duncan; a brother, Truman Layn and wife, Doris, of Oklahoma City; grandchildren: Gary Boyd and wife, Karen, of Duncan, Terry Caldwell of Duncan, Micah Pettigrew and wife, Wendy, of Oklahoma City, Tracy Pettigrew of Norman, Todd Thompson of California, Ty Thompson and Jenean Thompson of Tulsa; four great-grandchildren: Amber and her husband, Chase, Austen, Joshua and Tara; three great-great-grandchildren: Johnny D'Angelo, Ayden and Cheyann; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Oleta Turner, Drew Cobb and Oma Schaeffer; three brothers: Dwain Layn, K.R. Layn and Chub Layn; and a grandson, Johnny Boyd.Bearers will be Bill Pettigrew, Jerry Thompson, Gary Boyd, Micah Pettigrew, Tracy Pettigrew, Austen Boyd and Joshua Caldwell.Online condolences maybe made at www.granthamfuneralhomes.com.
